Mark Forsyth’s book The Etymologicon was the leader in Matthew Parris’ column in The Times yesterday. The Etymologicon – subtitled a circular journey through the connections between words – is published by Icon in November.
Apart from being pleased with the ‘extraordinary package’ Mark sent him (we don’t want to give it away but it included a magnifying glass and a walnut), Matthew Parris went on to quote some of the examples of bizarre word connection from The Etymologicon, concluding: ‘…and I’m hooked on Mark’s book.’
