Mark Forsyth was in the Icon office today helping us send out copies of his newly-arrived book The Etymologicon.
The book – subtitled A Circular Stroll Through the Hidden Connections of the English Language – explores the strange connections between words in our ancient and complex tongue.
It’s an occasionally ribald, frequently witty and unerringly erudite guided tour of the secret labyrinth that lurks beneath the English language, taking in monks and monkeys, film buffs and buffaloes, and explaining precisely what the Rolling Stones have to do with gardening.
It’s published on 3rd November – read more about it here.
