Icon Books are extremely excited to announce the new book from the author of The Etymologicon – the surprise hit which has been a Sunday Times Number One bestseller for two weeks running.

The Horologicon follows a day in the life of unusual, beautiful and forgotten English words.

‘From the moment you wake to the second your head hits the pillow, there’s a cornucopia of hidden words ready for every aspect of your day,’ Mark Forsyth says. ‘Do you tend to lie in bed before dawn worrying? Then you suffer from the Old English ailment of uhtceare. Uhtceare can lead to dysania (inability to get out of bed) and other zwoddery problems, which many have suffered but few can name.’

The book will be published on 1st November this year – there’s more information here and the announcement is covered by trade magazine The Bookseller here, and by Bookbrunch here. Our full press release is here.
