The Daily Mail’s serialisation of Mark Forsyth’s ‘delightfully eccentric but illuminating new book’ The Horologicon continues this morning, heading into the working day and coming across  words and phrases like nod-crafty (‘given to nodding the head with an air of great wisdom’), quidnunc (someone who always wants to know the latest scandal), borborygmi (the rumbling noises produced by an empty stomach) and many more.
