David Hoffman’s The Dead Hand is reviewed – as you may be able to guess from the above quote – inĀ The Morning Star, who take issue with the book’s discussion of the extensive Soviet chemical warfare programme in particular.

‘The Soviet Union is castigated as the embodiment of a “failed ideology” and a system that “reflexively buried the truth”‘ they say (quite rightly, in fact).
